DNSF (Downs and Special Friends) envisions Batley Baths as a revitalised community hub that not only preserves its historical significance but also adapts to the evolving needs of the local population. The goal is to transform Batley Baths into a multifaceted facility that serves as a beacon of inclusivity, health, and well-being for all residents.
By reopening Batley Baths, DNSF aims to take full responsibility for its day-to-day operations, ensuring that it remains a vibrant part of the community for generations to come.
The vision includes establishing an adult day centre for children with special needs, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and engage with the community.
The gym area will be repurposed into a café, run by children with special needs, offering them valuable work experience and fostering a sense of independence.
The swimming facilities will be reopened with dedicated times for school children during the day and public sessions at other times. This will ensure that swimming, an essential life skill, is accessible to all. Additionally, the existing sauna and steam room facilities will be upgraded with a spa area, enhancing the wellness offerings at Batley Baths.
By requesting a Community Asset Transfer from Kirklees Council, DNSF is committed to not only preserving but enhancing Batley Baths‘ role as a historical landmark and community resource, ensuring it continues to serve the local population in a meaningful and impactful way.
Because they matter, too. You can certainly make a difference by giving them a chance. Help us make them happy.
